Another billionaire tells us how NOT to pay taxes

Another billionaire explains how to avoid paying taxes
Oil and natural gas billionaire T. Boone Pickens said Tuesday that he hasn't paid federal taxes in the past three years, as he's used a tax loophole similar to one believed used by Donald Trump. "Only a fool gives the government money it doesn't have to," said billionaire Leon Cooperman, who made his billions through Goldman Sachs. Last week, the SEC charged Cooperman with insider trading, saying the investor and hedge fund manager had used non-public information from a corporate executive about an energy deal in 2010. Our “reps” in Congress are giving billionaires these tax loopholes so they can use their bad business deals to deduct money they didn’t even put into the deals. Most of us can’t afford lawyers to create dummy business losses like billionaire business people do. Now they say they resent being vilified for taking tax breaks on their bad business decisions. They think they are heroes for making donations (Trump does not actually give his own money. He uses Ebers’ money.)
Don’t be a "fool"—pay ZERO tax on your gains: https://www.amazon.com/Tax-Shelter-Young-Americans/dp/1500426520

Use your Tax Credits to avoid income taxes like Trump
Most of us receive only 4% of federal tax breaks like food stamps and Earned Income Credit if you are poor or the property tax and mortgage credit if you are middle class.
The Tax-Credit class pays less income tax with capital gains and dividends because it is “unearned.” So if you actually work; you are taxed MORE. For instance, Warren Buffett pays 17% on earnings while we pay 33% total tax. The tax-credit class pays NOTHING on assets they got from a “rich uncle” and on their home when they sell. Most of us don’t “itemize” so we lose all kinds of tax credits. The Tax-Credit class takes off medical expenses, job hunting expenses, and work expenses not reimbursed by others, deferred compensation (bonus and stock portfolio worth more later), investment costs, investment losses, stuff they lose, stuff they own. They can eliminate income tax by listing losses from buildings, race horses, farms, oil, leasing and businesses they own as partners, LLCs, C and S corps. Trump actually deducted $916 million but most of it was other people’s money. Some bank debt was cancelled which normally is taxable but not after RE lobbyists got Congress to change rules in 1993. Trump is tax-FREE for 18 years.

We could easily pay for all Social Security benefits and Medicare coverage for all
Our reps decide to give The Tax-Credit Class special breaks we can’t use. By eliminating these entitlement programs for the 1 percent and multinational corporations America could afford SS benefits and health insurance for all. Here are 10 Congressional programs that create Socialism for the Rich and the amount we pay in taxes for them:
1. TAX BREAKS FOR OBSCENE CEO BONUSES ($7 BILLION/YEAR) They still get $ millions salary.
2. TAX CUTS FOR LUXURY CORPORATE JETS ($300 MILLION/YEAR) We pay for their rides.
3. BIG OIL SUBSIDIES ($37.5 BILLION/YEAR) We no longer import oil or need to find more oil here.
4. PHARMACEUTICAL SUBSIDIES ($270 BILLION/YEAR) GOP Bush II gave them price guarantee!
5. CAPITAL GAINS TAX BREAKS ($51 BILLION/YEAR) Rich pay 17%: we pay 33% total taxes.
6. CORPORATE TAX SUBSIDIES FROM STATE/LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ($80.4 BILLION/YEAR)
7. HANDOUTS TO BIG AG ($18 BILLION/YEAR) Family farmers were bought out long ago; now wind.
8. WELFARE FOR WALL STREET ($83 BILLION/YEAR) Fed guarantee interest rate makes big bigger.
9. EXPORT-IMPORT BANK SUBSIDIES ($112 BILLION) Boeing GE guaranteed profit on sales.
10. FEDERAL CONTRACTS FOR THE TOP 200 COMPANIES ($880 BILLION/YEAR) No risk biz.
Congress has made the tax laws that create America’s Socialism for the Rich. Congress people who want to cut SS benefits and Medicare are playing politics. America could afford to provide what we were promised but we don’t have lobbyists for a payoff.

Is a reverse mortgage right for you?
Financial sales people provide many positive details about this mortgage—a debt that you don’t pay back until you die—but it is a costly transaction all the same. Some observers say: A lot of clients still resist the idea of a debt. You lose the feeling of independence. A borrower answers to a bank system. Using a reverse mortgage to keep your investment portfolio may help you but as debt it must be managed. Your advisor is not doing you a favor if they don’t explain the debt load for years and the real costs. Remember, if you already paid off a mortgage of $250,000 over 30 years, you gave up a total of $539,595.47 plus the total set up cost of $5-10,000. Since mortgage interest is deductible, a HELOC may help now. It is cheaper and you are still in control.

GOP will discard ballots with simple errors to support The Don
OH GOP officials are going to destroy ballots with no ZIP code or writing not in BLOCK lettering and other simple errors. An appeal was denied by a judge who is married to the GOP House Speaker William G. Batchelder. The period in which voters are allowed to fix the form was cut from 10 to 7 days, and elections workers were even barred from helping voters with the forms. Anything to suppress the Dem vote. Even Ryan’s home county considering Hill. NH GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte says she is dropping her support for The Don. Carly Fiorina, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, Rep. Barbara Comstock, Martha Roby of Alabama say Donald Trump should step aside. Many states do not allow write-in candidates for president. Some GOP will go down with the ship. Others are burning up $45.8 million so far. Supremes decided to allow wealthy to decide vote. Only $7.1 million spent by the candidates themselves. OpenSecrets.org. Is investment portfolio “rebalancing” a smart strategy?
Wall Street advisors recommend this periodic selling and buying to keep your risk/reward balance of stocks and bonds where you want it to be during your accumulation period. However, tests over a long time period show that it may reduce your total accumulations. It may reduce your accumulation because you must pay for transactions and because you may miss a stock market’s boom. Rebalancing tends to reduce your portfolio’s volatility (a standard deviation of 14.4% with none versus 12% for the annually rebalanced portfolio). However if you have 15 or more years before retirement, your reward for a Buffett buy and hold strategy is 9% vs 8.5%. Over time, this means $613,805.95 vs $546,116.39 from 250 a month for 33 years of accumulations. If you use the dollar cost average strategy, you are already reducing volatility by buying fewer shares when they cost more and more when less. In retirement you will shift to lower risk and returns anyway to protect your gains.

GOP religion excludes immigrants from marriage too
LA GOP religionists have effectively made it illegal for thousands of refugees to get married. Any foreign-born person wanting to get married in Louisiana must produce both an unexpired visa (even though a federal court has ruled that marriage licenses cannot be denied based on immigration status), as well as, somewhat inexplicably, a birth certificate. Many immigrants can’t produce birth certificates since none were ever issued where they were born. Indeed, many people born in LA have no certificate since they were born at home. Louisiana ‘Family’ Forum, which sponsored the law, claimed to be a voice for “traditional families” — a category that, in 2016, apparently no longer includes immigrants. Yet ‘traditional’ families married with no cert for thousands of years. America was built on toleration not exclusion. Let’s be tolerant of others.

Is credit monitoring service $110 right for you?
The internet has made everyone concerned about ID theft and worse—scams that rob you of your sense of security. Many firms like LifeLock are profiting from these fears. Many firms charge over $110 a year to claim they protect you. Actually no firm can protect you (stop a thief from stealing your ID or bank account). Professionals with the help of their governments do crimes all day so if they can break into the government files they can easily take yours if they want it. Notification is key to limiting damage. Avoid fees and taxes--boost earnings 25%

Avoid higher fees and taxes—boost earnings 25%
Average mutual fund managers are getting more money and it is coming from you. Fees average 1.44% each year no matter how well or poorly they do. Over time this fee can cost you over 50% of your possible account. Pension funds pay only 0.05% for the same performance. They don’t pay taxes either so why should you, especially in retirement?
Why pay more for less? Reduce Fees and Taxes: http://www.amazon.com/Cut-Taxes-Retirement-ways-less/dp/1499590954

Our “representatives” in Congress and staff owe IRS over $8 million in back taxes
“About 4.9 percent of all House employees, including lawmakers, have an unpaid tax liability. Those 486 employees owe Uncle Sam about $5.8 million. Across the Rotunda, Senate staff and legislators have a 3.2 percent delinquency rate, with 228 employees owning $2.7 million in taxes. The IRS had paid $1 million worth of performance awards to about 1,100 IRS employees with tax-compliance problems.”
Congress writes the laws but can’t seem to abide even for “do-nothing” jobs.

Stock analysts are wrong 60% of the time
“… professional investors are seriously overconfident… They exhibit ‘herding’ behavior. … they are right about 40% of the time—which is worse than pure chance! You are better off NOT paying an advisor and flipping a coin. In fact, the 2014 QAIB study shows that you earned just 3.69% vs the market’s 11.11% over 30 years. Survey says workers are investing the Buffett way--not using salespeople

Collect on your ex-spouse’s Social Security benefits??
If you are at least 62 years old and you are not currently married, you may collect retirement benefits based on an ex’s earnings record. If you have been divorced for at least two years, you can collect benefits on your ex even if they have not yet claimed their retirement benefits. Strange but true.

Why homeowners are switching to cats for protection

1 in 4 of us has $0 nest egg
A recent COUNTRY Financial Security Index® survey sheds light on a more concerning factor. One in four (25 percent) Americans, across all age groups, admit they are not saving at all for retirement, or they are unsure.
Even more alarming are the four in ten (38 percent) of those 40 and older who say they regret decisions they've made with their retirement savings, namely not starting to save early enough (47 percent). Perhaps this is why Americans are not confident that a secure retirement is a viable option. Nearly half (46 percent) say it's not possible for a typical middle-income family to save for a secure retirement. This is two points higher than this time last year and the most to say this since March 2011.

University presidents getting rich on student debt
Student debt is highest at public universities that offer larger-than-average executive compensation, according to a new report from the Institute for Policy Studies.
The report — titled "The One Percent at State U" — found that executive compensation was "closely related" to a number of financial issues in higher education, including student debt and low-wage faculty labor. "Though it has been rising everywhere, average student debt of graduates in the top 25 public universities with the highest executive pay increased 5 percentage points more or 13% faster than the national average from summer 2006 to summer 2012," according to the IPS report./Additionally, IPS reports that they "found that adjunct (part-time) and contingent (temporary) faculty grew much faster than the national average when executive compensation soared at the top 25."

Social Security and state pensions cut 25%?
Social Security benefits could be cut by 25 percent if Congress does not act soon, Social Security Administration Chief Actuary Stephen Goss warned a Senate panel today. He noted trust fund reserves for disabilityInsurance are expected to be at zero by late 2016. Goss said one-third older Americans have little retirement income outside of SS benefits. The Heritage Foundation said the spousal benefit for Social Security has become outdated because many women have worked long enough to get their own payments. AARP said one proposal -- to improve the health of the Social Security trust fund by reducing the cost-of-living adjustment -- would force many women into poverty. State government employees face possible pension cuts of 20% due to changes in pension funding. Since the financial crash of 2008-2009, 45 states have changed their pensionplans, a new study by the National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA) and the Center for State & Local Government Excellence (SLGE) reports.

JPMorgan chief Jamie Dimon supports pensions for Detroit workers
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said Detroit's bankruptcy likely won't have a lasting effect on Michigan's borrowing costs or the municipal bond industry, even as bondholders cry foul about the city's proposed debt cuts. Dimon also said today that he's very sympathetic to Detroit retirees with $20,000 pensions. The average Detroit civilian retiree pension is about $19,000. Detroit emergency manager Kevyn Orr has proposed paying only 60 cents on the dollar for unfunded pension claims.
Other city and state employees may lose pensions. NJ gov Christie promised to fix former Democratic pension under-funding but last week reneged on his promise. He is keeping his tax cut for the rich however. He got a helicopter to go to son’s games which he is not returning.

Researchers say the survey findings indicate that more and better outreach is needed to educate uninsured people about free or low-cost health insurance through expanded Medicaid programs or subsidies to help them purchase health insurance in the new marketplaces. "They found in Massachusetts, with "RomneyCare," that the individual mandate penalty absolutely motivated a lot of people to purchase insurance," she says. "The Obama administration understandably tried to emphasize the positive, but people need to understand that the mandate is not insignificant -- they could be hit with a big tax bill if they don't buy coverage."

How will you make up the cuts in Social Security benefits?

How will you make up the cuts in Social Security benefits?
With Washington set on cutting our benefits in retirement, perhaps you should grow your own Tax-FREE Income supplement. You know taxes will go up and benefits will go down. Our representatives want us to pay for their previous mistakes—two wars, two tax cuts and two bank bailouts. “Only the little people pay taxes,” according to millionaire Helmsley. We need to grow our tax-FREE income NOW while we can:

Obama gives in to GOP on our current SS benefits
Switching to the chained CPI, as recommended in Obama's budget, would close about 25% of Social Security's 75-year shortfall and would be a significant down payment on bringing that program into long-term balance. The existing CPI already under compensates Social Security beneficiaries because it does not fully reflecttheir out-of-pocket health care expenses, which tend to be higher than those of younger Americans. “To shift to the chained CPI would appear to under compensate them even further,” according to the NASI's fact sheet “Should Social Security's Cost-of-Living Adjustment Be Changed?” Although most proposed changes to Social Security benefits in inevitable reform discussions — such as increasing the normal retirement age — would affect future beneficiaries, a change in the way benefits are indexed to inflation would affect everyone — including current retirees.
What are chained CPI? A trick to pay fewer benefits. You can’t switch drugs like you can food so the example beef to chicken doesn’t apply: http://www.cnbc.com/id/100624098?__source=yahoo|headline|other|text|&par=yahoo

LA tax plan to attract business from TX
Gov Jindal's proposal to eliminate the state income tax shifts to poor. His detailed plan would do away with all state personal and corporate income taxes. It also calls for a 56-percent increase in the state sales tax, a much higher cigarette tax, and the elimination of some tax loopholes to make up the $3 billion shortfall from scrapping the income taxes. To allay fears that the plan would hurt the poor, Jindal has proposed a rebate for low-income residents and some retirees. The governor says the change would attract business by makingLouisiana competitive with states such as oil-rich neighbor Texas, which has no income tax. Lawsuit Claims Bankers Life Denies Long Term Care Benefits
Law firm Williams Love O’Leary & Powers alleges Bankers Life and Casualty, a Chicago-based firm, is denying benefits to those who paid for long term health care insurance so they would have security in their old age. A class action lawsuit against the insurance company was filed today in U.S. District Court in Portland. “She paid their premiums for years, counting on having support if she became ill. That time came and all she got from Bankers Life was a cold shoulder, rejection and red tape. It was a total rip off.” “My mother trusted this company,” Grants Pass resident Dennis Fallow explained at a Portland news conference this morning. “She paid their premiums for years, counting on having support if she became ill. Banks misused small business recovery money
A new report shows community banks used our tax money to pay back our money for bailouts -- instead of lending the money to small businesses as originally intended. The watchdog report released Tuesday found that $2.1 billion of the administration's $4 billion Small Business Lending Fund went to repaying bailouts. Many community banks were bailed out by the government in 2008 and 2009 under the Troubled Asset Relief Fund. The small business fund had failed to take off -- disbursing only $4 billion of the $30 billion it had originally carved out. The fund was established in 2011 to funnel cash to small firms, who were facing a borrowing crunch.

Obama will trade our contributions for a sound retirement for GOP support
President Obama next week will take the political risk of formally proposing cuts to Social Security andMedicare in his annual budget in an effort to demonstrate his willingness to compromise with Republicans and revive prospects for a long-term deficit-reduction deal, administration officials say. Compromise never worked with GOP before.
Perhaps we should start building our own sound retirement. http://www.amazon.com/Your-Retirement-Mutual-Funds-retirement/dp/1481114026

Housing growth spurs economy
The price of U.S. homes rose by 8.1% in January from a year earlier, the biggest annual price gain in six and a half years. The main drag on sales contracts was a shortage of properties for sale. NAR predicts that housing starts would have to rise 50% to resolve the inventory shortage.

New insurers and rates with ObamaCare exchanges
California chastised Anthem Blue Cross for levying a 5.2 percent health premium increase on its small business customers. CT has a new nonprofit health insurance company sponsored by state physicians' groups and intended mainly to provide coverage for individuals and small businesses.

Are you paying higher premiums due to DMV errors?
Car insurance companies make millions from us paying higher premiums than we should, due to errors existing on our driving record. A survey of driving records conducted by the Insurance Research Council (IRC) showed that one in five convictions for traffic violations may contain errors from motor vehicle records. The IRC looked at driving records in four states, ConnecticutFloridaOhio, and Washington. The study showed that convictions for driving infractions were either incorrectly entered or were missing from driving records. Errors can boost an average policyholder’s auto insurance premiums by as much as 22 percent. One insurance quote company provides free information about fixing your record:  http://quote44.com/driving-record-repair

SCAMS           “Deficits don’t matter” GOP grandfather, Dick Cheney, 2002

“Entitlements”—our Social Security and Medicare money—did not produce the deficits. Two tax cuts for the rich and the Chaney/Bush wars cost $3.7 Trillion and counting.

We never learn
The House Agriculture Committee debated and passed seven bills designed to roll back derivatives regulations that were created by Congress three years ago in the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill. Derivatives allow banks to place leverage bets on anything that can be measured. Last year, Morgan Chase lost $8 billions of deposits on derivatives. Buffett called derivatives "weapons of mass destruction."

10 Reasons We Fail on Wall Street and how to fix it!

10 Reasons We Fail on Wall Street and how to fix it!
We earn 2.56% instead of 10-12% on investments
We end up with $170,128 in retirement, not $500,000
We pay more taxes than most wealthy people
We buy 'safe' investments and lose money
You could have earned 15.3% last year, tax-FREE. That’s the equivalent of 23.3% taxable. Tax-FREE accumulation provides an extra 25% to your investment total. You never pay taxes—no federal, state, capital gains or dividend taxes. You don’t have to fail anymore.

Is the Allstate 'reducing-deductible' policy for you?
You may have seen a TV message about a policy that reduces your deductible over time.  So after four years of accident-free driving, you can end up with a zero deductible. However, you should know you pay more for that benefit. And remember, you must have a claim to “win” your “zero deductible.” Also, this does not guarantee your rates won’t go up too. Consider the policy with a higher deductible and a lower price for years. For instance, most insurers offer many discounts up front AND the benefit of a 25% premium discount at 10 years of safe driving. You can save a lot more than the $500 with discounts. You have to have an accident to save with Allstate. Learn all the ‘tricks of the trade’ of discounts:  http://www.amazon.com/Vehicle-Insurance-Beware-Double-Coverage/dp/1480027634

Is a nonstandard car insurance policy for you?
This kind of coverage is for special circumstances like your little-driven ‘57 Chevy or really bad drivers. You pay less and you get less. It has limited coverage for repairs, drivers, liability in accidents, etc. Compare policy fine print before you smile at the low premium: http://money.msn.com/auto-insurance/7-gotchas-of-cheap-car-insurance

Allstate to partner with Wal-Mart stores in IL
Online car-insurance retailer Esurance (Allstate) is launching a pilot program to highlight coverage within 150 Illinois Wal-Mart stores via Kiosks. You buy coverage online or by phone, not in the store. Are you paying too much for coverage?
Insure.com’s annual study of car insurance rates in each state shows who’s paying the biggest bills. Overall, when averages of all vehicles are considered. Louisiana and Michigan are the most expensive places to buy auto insurance. Maine residents enjoy the lowest average annual rates. National average - $1,510. Rates are based on insurance for a single 40-year-old male who commutes 12 miles to work each day, with policy limits of 100/300/50 ($100,000 for injury liability for one person, $300,000 for all injuries and $50,000 for property damage in an accident) and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage. The hypothetical driver has a clean record and good credit. The rate includes uninsured motorist coverage. Actual rates will depend on individual driver factors. LA has many damage lawsuits. MI has a guarantee of unlimited, lifetime personal injury protection (PIP) benefits for treatment of injuries from a car accident. The difference between the most expensive and least is $2,200 a year. Shop and compare. http://www.amazon.com/Vehicle-Insurance-Beware-Double-Coverage/dp/1480027634

Will you outlive your money or your health?
One out of every four 65-year-olds today will live past age 90. Yet, for 87 percent of our country's middle-income Americans age 55 and older, the idea of one's own longevity is often not contemplated or discussed, according to a new study. There are two primary concerns of respondents: declining health associated with age, and the ability to create a sustainable retirement income that may need to last 20 years or more. Consider the options now while you can do something about it: http://www.amazon.com/Longevity-Insurance-right-better-alternatives/dp/1482031434

Study shows why many investors shun advisors
When asked why they chose to direct their own financial future, only 13% cited a bad experience with an advisor and only 12% said they couldn’t afford to pay an advisor. So why don’t people use advisors? The two leading reasons were “I am more comfortable handling my retirement plan on my own” (57%) and “I don’t need professional advice to plan my retirement” (38%); as the report notes, these responses are really two sides of the same coin. Members also know that they are more likely to stick to the plan they make themselves: http://www.amazon.com/The-New-American-Retirement-System/dp/1461030072

10 most overpaid jobs
According to this industry news service, your financial advisor is the most overpaid occupation. Product pushers and fast talking salespeople promise the world and have it delivered to themselves. Advisors are not needed anymore, investors agree.

Investors going direct and saving more
Lack of trust in traditional advisory firms at least partly explains the growth in the direct channel, according to a new study. Only 27% of respondents said they believed that financial firms were “looking out for their best interests,” and 36% said they did not believe that to be the case. “Direct providers were largely unscathed by the reputation issues facing their advisory counterparts during the market downturn,” said Mr. Smith, director.  “There's only so many times a firm can pay a $100 million fine before people start questioning their integrity.”http://www.amazon.com/Your-Investment-Edge-Tax-FREE-Account/dp/1482695677

Is your pension underfunded?  Is it because your company hides money overseas?
The difference between assets and expected liabilities of the 100 largest U.S. corporate pension plans ballooned to $388.8 billion last year. Nearly 80% of the private pension plans covered by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. are underfunded. Public pension funds are underfunded by at least $1 trillion, according to a report by the State Budget Crisis Task ForceOnly 18 defined benefit pension plans offered by the 500 largest companies are fully funded. Yet companies are stashing more cash abroad as stockpiles hit record $1.45T.U.S. firms keep 58% of their cash, or $840 billion, overseas. Companies are hording cash overseas to avoid paying taxes. Study finds Fewer Young Adults without Health Insurance

Vermont first to offer insurance exchange policies
Vermont will be the first state to see health insurers announce proposed rates that will be offered under the health insurance exchange being set up to comply with the federal health overhaul.

Insurers still holding life benefits are forced to find beneficiaries
Vermont House has passed a bill requiring life insurance companies to make a good faith effort to locate beneficiaries after a policy holder dies. House Speaker Shap Smith says that in too many cases, insurance companies make little or no effort to track down survivors and thereby avoid paying on a policy. Wow. What is the purpose of life insurance if not to help survivors?
The bill awaits Senate action. It would require life insurance companies to maintain and monitor a "Death Master File," a program that matches a person on the file and the social security number, name, or date of birth of an insured annuity owner.

We still have not cleared the mortgage mess
The same structure that led to the Great Recession is still in place. Taxpayers are still paying the $137 BILLION in losses and the legal bills and retirement packets of those that stood by and watched it happen. Taxpayers spent $11 million last year on medical costs for 1,392 Fannie and Freddie retirees. And from September 2008 through 2012, taxpayers also spent $114 million for legal bills racked up by former executives and directors testifying in lawsuits relating to the accounting scandals or financial crisis inquiries. Executives claim we must by their old contracts but most businesses being bailed out cancel their old contracts, as any union person can testify.
