Reduce your taxes like President Trump

Reduce your taxes like President Trump
President Trump has said: "I fight very hard to pay as little tax as possible" because "that makes me smart." If I did pay taxes, "it would be squandered, too, believe me." Be smart:
Converting part of your IRA to a Roth will provide future income without the income tax. Converting $10,000 today (pay $1,500 tax) and spend $24,000 in 10 years (after age 60). You can spend it all and not pay the $3,600 tax on $24,000. You could use this lump sum for a vacation or your grandson’s education or just leave it to grow into a handsome legacy for your heirs. Since this money is not taxable you may avoid tax on your other income too. For instance, SS benefits are taxable if your income is over $32,000 ($25,000 single). If you were to convert $10K IRA money every year for 10 years, you will have turned $100,000 TAXABLE income into $250,000 FREE of TAX. Since you must take IRA money at age 70.5 anyway, taking it earlier will lessen the “forced” distribution and thus less tax. You may convert any amount any year. You can fund a Roth IRA now and not have to convert later.

We never did get to see The Don’s tax returns
He said they don’t matter to his voters and he was right. So now he, as head of IRS, won’t be finishing the audit on himself and he will get away with not paying his fair share. He deducted about $1 billion of other people’s money and gets to keep all of his income from TV and using his name on things for 20 years. His tax plan includes huge tax breaks for the wealthy. The top 1% would get about half the benefits of his tax cut. People with $3.7 million or more in annual income would receive $1 million in annual tax savings. Deficits will soar unless the rich create tax payer jobs here. (This has not worked in KS which gave businesses 0 taxes in 2012.) However, if the created jobs are low-pay, like in Texas, no new tax revenue would be created. Since The Don will cut corporate taxes, new middle class taxes will go up and less-advantaged assistance programs will be cut. GOP has already targeted ObamaCare, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.

The Don’s excuse for not paying taxes: “They waste the money
Can The Don stop the big business subsidies Congress relies on for their daily bread? He railed against lobbyists who get paid for subsidies. But, OH NO, he HAS them in his transition team deciding who will make the rules. Will he cancel EPA so we have dirty air, dirty water and contaminated soil? Which programs are wastes to The Don? The Don is using the same people as Bush for decisions—his first tell— “He is failing the first test, and he should be held accountable for it.” For instance, Ed Meese, a lobbyist for Heritage Foundation is setting up budget. The list goes on. Energy, Communication, Intelligence, Agriculture, etc. They even asked JP Morgan Chase Dimon to run Treasury. Hardly outsiders! Some are the ones who oversaw the financial collapse of 2007. Obama never jailed any of them. His Justice has let many bankers skate. Can The Don put any white-collar criminals in jail? If some went to jail, it might persuade banks to not take big risks. But Don has relied on them for financing his projects—3 casinos, the Plaza and scores of buildings/golfs. He used Tax Credits to avoid paying his fair share.

Where should you invest now for retirement if GOP cuts Social Security?
Ryan and House members will now have a “mandate” to cut our “entitlements” since The Don will be spending on other projects. Without cuts in Social Security and Medicare, the GOP would need to raise taxes. Where can you put your money so that you can supplement the cuts in your future Social Security benefits? One alternative is to use a balanced fund that makes you owner of stocks and bonds. One of the best is the Vanguard Wellesley Income fund. It has returned 9.8% since 1970--7% in 2016 so far.

Remember when The Don was against hedge fund operators?
No longer. Now they are in the government. He said: “Hedge fund guys are getting away with murder.” One of Trump’s friend/backer, hedge fund owner, Steven Mnuchin, is even a contender for Treasury secretary. “That nonsense is ending: the anti-banking cabal and the screed of hatred for people that live on Wall Street,” Anthony Scaramucci, a well-known money manager who is on the transition team, said last week following Trump’s victory. Mnuchin, a former hedge fund manager and partner and Goldman Sachs Group Inc., is a top candidate to lead Treasury; he served as Trump’s campaign finance chief. John Paulson, who made billions when the housing market collapsed, is an economic adviser; he was a Trump donor and has been pushing for changes to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the U.S. mortgage giants. Rebekah Mercer, the daughter of hedge-fund magnate Robert Mercer, is on Trump’s transition team. Carl Icahn, investor, has also backed Trump, hoping the candidate will rein in Environmental Protection Agency rules, which he says harm refiners like CVR Refining LP, where he has a controlling stake. His wife, Gail, has been named to the inauguration team.
Lies, all lies.

Can Wall Street learn to put our needs ahead of their own?
Obama tried to reform the Wolf of Wall Street so that they would not collapse our financial system again. When you are setting up your retirement income from 401k and IRA accounts, the Wolf used to take a big bite—5-10%. Now it can eat up to 63% of your investment portfolio. Obama’s retirement div put out rules to protect vulnerable senior’s nest eggs from the Wolf. Will Trump destroy the Fiduciary Rule as part of the industry lobby to repeal Dodd-Frank? Fiduciary means advisors put your interest before their own. This rule does not mean advisors can’t overcharge on all other products. It does not mean they can’t charge fees for years after the sale of retirement products. In fact Chase and other banks have already said they will stop commissions and charge annual fees forever instead. Instead of paying 5-10% up front, you will pay an extra 1% per year. Chase and BoAmerica could take 10-15% over the life of your account. The Wolf cannot help taking the whole cake—now just one bite at a time--forever.

Which Part D plan is right for you?
When comparing Part D plans, make sure the copay for your drug is reasonable. The AARP tested the difference between the copays for 30 day supply of 5 drugs in 5 states. The diffence in what you will pay is astounding: We pay $569 or $27 for the same Procrit 4,000 ml in FL amoung 20 plans. Large differences in copays for the same drug within a state not to mention in the same country leads any reasonable person to believe America has a problem. Trump used to rail about this problem. The problem was highlighted by the recent scandal over EpiPen. Do you spend all of your monthly budget for this lifesaver or let your kid go to the hospital so your family can eat? In England the same medicine costs $69. It actually costs $30 to make and we add $6 profit: $36. Someone or other is making a killing. If you are a millionaire Congressman or you earn $423,345 as a 1%er then $600 for Epipen is no problem. However, for most of us, medicine is like water and air—a necessity that should not be exploited. Can Trump make drugs affordable for the ‘forgotten’ family?

The Don says he will NOT take his $400,000 salary plus benefits
Taking a salary means having your taxes withheld. The Don does not pay taxes. However, he may not realize there is a large pension too. Seems unwise to refuse $½ million extra cash. Not all his job’s expenses are covered by the govnmt. We pay presidents for the rest of their lives even though they don’t need it—well maybe Jimmy Carter. A fixed income for 30 or 40 years is over $7 million without inflation rider. We can create a fixed monthly payment without having to pay the high annuity fees of 2-4%. Tea Party controls House, Senate, President, courts, Supremes--Finally got to be rulers
If you are wealthy and hate government, you win. Most of us will grit teeth for 4 years. Trump’s Teas will cut programs that benefit older adults and younger people with disabilities, including Medicaid, Older Americans Act such as Meals on Wheels, adult day, information assistance. Don said he would leave Social Security and Medicare alone but he said many contra things. Teas have targeted all programs for disadvantaged like ObamaCare. Don may not resist their cuts especially if economy falters. He does not like losers. 20 million will have no health care. "You're not going to let people die sitting in the middle of the street." He made fun of disabled, banned unfavorable press firms, and attacked certain minorities, judges, laws, departments he did not like. His tax plan reduces taxes for very rich but his advisor says if growth does not come, middleclass tax increase will be necessary to balance budget. Christie just raised gas tax in NJ and let millionaire tax cut stay. He ended the estate tax for rich. Christie may be Don’s whip in Congress. He claims he can make Dems give in.

We are entering the Twilight Zone:

The Don’s 1st test: Replace job paying $23/hr Carrier move to Mexico—he promised.
CarrierMexico will pay $25/DAY. Automation, computers, math.
He made Carrier the poster child and “we’re going to hold him to it.”
We want change: “It could have been Captain Kangaroo and he might have won.”

Deportations begin: “get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably 2 million, it could be even 3 million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate.”

Wall is too expensive—settle for a fence: Tax cuts for rich/corporations mean no money

Teas have finally gotten their wish! Congress and WH are anti-govt but paid.
The Don’s “cabinet” are scary group

Jeff Sessions top law officer, was rejected for judgeships by GOP because racist remarks:
Sessions had referred to the N.A.A.C.P., the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and other civil rights groups as “un-American” and “Communist-inspired.” An African-American federal prosecutor then, Thomas H. Figures, said Mr. Sessions had referred to him as “boy” and testified that Sessions said the Ku Klux Klan was fine “until I found out they smoked pot.” He does not like the Voting Rights Act and the stringent oversight it placed on Southern states.

Mike Flynn, national security adviser, thinks that Shariah, or Islamic law, is spreading in the United States (it is not). His dubious assertions are so common that when he ran the Defense Intelligence Agency, subordinates came up with a name for the phenomenon: They called them “Flynn facts.” Flynn thinks Putin is an ally in fight against ISL. He worked for Russia Today, a Kremlin TV network. He was leading chants of “lock her up” against Hillary Clinton at rallies for The Don.

Mike Pompeo, CIA director, House Intelligence Committee, gained prominence for his role in the congressional investigation into the 2012 attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. He was a sharp critic of Hillary Clinton and thinks there was a cover-up. When the committee found no new evidence of wrongdoing by the Obama administration or Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Jordan filed a 48-page addendum that included far harsher criticism. Regarding the Iran anti-nuclear agreement, Pompeo thinks we should “walk away from this deal.” He has ties to the Kochs, the billionaire conservatives whose Koch Industries has provided his funding.

Myron Ebell, EPA, is a climate-change denier who directs the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. The group's website, SafeChemicalPolicy.org, exists to downplay the health and ecological impacts of chemicals. “Pesticides aren’t bad for you.” “Honeybees decline not linked to pesticides.”

We pay big oil to send our oil to China--can Trump stop subsidies?

We pay big oil to send oil to China--can Trump stop subsidies?
Our tax dollars are given to the big oil companies so that they can sell more of our natural resources to China and many other countries. We pay “subsidies” to big oil, gas, drug makers, agriculture firms, airplane and other manufacturers. Many of these subsidized firms make $ billions but pay no federal taxes. Some even get a refund! Our states also pay these firms to make money with our taxes as grants, subsidies and easements.

GOP does NOT really favor elimination of regulations—lobbyists write them
One the GOP myths is that if we just eliminate regulations (by governments), economic growth is assured. But most of the regulations were created by business NOT the government. It is called lobbying. Business needs rules and stability to prosper. Yes government did have to step in to clean up the life-threatening activities of business but only after the mess was made. Workers were being killed in jobs since there was no profit in making mining, drilling, factories safe until 1891. Even Nixon recognized that business will polute since it is more profitable. He decided by himself that we need cleaner air, water, environment, etc so he made the EPA by executive order. But what about now? Why did it take 950 pages to force Wall Street to stop using our savings for their gambling that nearly destroyed our system? “Primarily because of the financial industry. The industry lobbied over and over and over again for this exception, that exception, this clarification, this interpretation, this permitted activity. Almost all of the length in these rules are demanded by the industry—and then they complain about the length and complexity of the rule.”

Do we need the Fiduciary Rule to control fees?
GOP promises to do away with regulations and install a Supreme that will stop making rules contrary to business growth. Fiduciary means your advisor recommends a product that fits your needs without regard to the commission or fees. This rule came out of the changes to the way Wall Street sells products. But putting you first only applies to annuities and other retirement products. Wall Street lobbyists would have killed this rule if applied to ALL investments and advice. The rule was made necessary because Wall Street firms sell us overpriced and underperforming long-term plans that can take up to 63% of our possible nest egg. For instance, most advisors recommend high-cost annuities to defer taxes until retirement. Insurers pay advisors up to 10% of your contributions for NET investment returns that make a banker blush. Wall Street will switch all annuity buyers to annual fees so they can earn more over time. Retirement product buyers will pay 2% a year forever instead of a one time annuity commission.

Do you need an annuity to delay taxes or create fixed retirement income?
Most working people use a 401k, IRA or other pension vehicle to grow their nest egg. In retirement, they can rollover their 401k into an IRA and begin taking distributions. But if you need an annuity to create a “guaranteed fixed income stream you can’t outlive,” your advisor may have pushed his favorite annuity. Annuities are the expensive form of creating a stream of income each month for your expenses. A typical contract may earn 3-4% and charge 2% so you really only earn the 1-2%. If inflation runs at 1-2%, you may find that the annuity guarantees cost more than they are worth. Your buying power is reduced by HALF for every 20 years you lock up your funds in an insurer. Once you sign the contract you can’t change your mind without it costing up to 10% of your funds.

So, Is your paid advisor worth it?
Baseball owners pay very high compensation to some players. They think paying top dollar will help the team win or draw more paying fans and more cable watchers. But most of these high costs are wasted. The A’s proved that winning is about smart investing not overpaying talent. This year, only 1 in 10 highest cost player proved helpful and they were not in the Series. Most high-cost players are ‘has-been’ stars. In personal finance, the same is true. High cost advisors are has-beens because we pay high fees for PAST performance. That is all we know for sure. Your advisors’ promises are just agent hype. No one can predict the future, especially next year’s winning advisor. In fact last year’s winner is usually this year’s loser. Highly-paid advisors are NOT worth it, especially since their costs can rob you of “63% of what you would have had.”
The best predictor of investing success is COST not stock picking brilliance: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Predictor-Investment-Success-Cost/dp/1502524082

The best advisor’s advice is FREE
His investment return record is 20.8% a year since 1965: 50 years. He does not run a hedge or private equity fund. He does not work on Wall Street. He runs one of the largest mutual funds in the world. He does not charge extra fees like hedge funds and high priced mutual funds. He does not trade often. He does not use huge loans to leverage his investments. He does not use options, derivatives, or other dangerous gambles. He only invests in solid profitable companies like Coke, GEICO, American Express, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He provides his FREE advice in letters to his owners.

Are there better ways to avoid taxes in retirement?
The wealthy have already figured out how to avoid taxes. Remember Mit Romney was said to have placed his $20+ million IRA off shore in the Cayman Islands. He takes $millions in tax credits to lower his taxes to 14% on $20 million income. Most of us pay 33% total tax because we have “earned” income. The rich like Romney, Warren Buffett and John Kerry live on dividends, interest and capital—NOT paychecks. Most pay under 17%. They use tax credits to offset their income. They receive a tax credit when they lose money on their investments and businesses. And Congress (which is mostly multi- millionaires) writes the laws that make this situation possible. You can fight back.
Avoid paying the taxes of the Tax-Credit Class: https://www.amazon.com/Tax-Credit-Class-your-credits-ZERO/dp/1539462382

GOP religion
GOP religionists have embraced The Don because they think he will turn back time and make the courts rule men and women’s health and sex. Funny the religionists use this issue to manage their power but are not against killing criminals or the observers of other religions. They are missing the point of the New Testament: the whole point of the modern religion Jesus introduced was to free men and women from old rules and focus on love for all not just your friends. Last week a mother who beat her child 36 times with wire was absolved to beat her 7 year old any time because she said her ‘Christian’ beliefs were the “guiding values” that influenced her behavior. GOP claims it is ‘Christianity’. She cited verses from Proverbs 23:13-14—old law. Instead of treating this as a violent crime, the state of IN said she can do it again based on the state’s new ‘religious freedom’ law to justify the beating of a child. GOP religionists have perverted Christianity into a political weapon to hurt children and others not liked. No wonder religion is dying out.

Tea Party controls House, Senate, President, courts, Supremes--Finally got to be rulers

What to do when stocks become volatile under tempermental Trump
We may see a market in rebellion as Don and the Teas shake up Washington and state governments. The unknown is not good for securities investors usually because they do not look down the road only end of the block. Don says he will give huge tax cuts to the wealthy so they will invest not send the money and jobs overseas. This strategy is not working in Kansas where the Teas have already had it in place for 3 years. The Don talked about the good old days when the uneducated could make good money. The fastest way to make a change is to convince the Teas in Congress to fund infrastructure projects. Despite past history, this new government spending could boost our retirement nest egg. However, to smooth out the chaos of The Don’s change program, look to a balanced fund like Wellesley Income fund at Vanguard. It has returned 9.8% since 1970--7% in 2016.

There have been reports that companies donating to the Republican Governors Association were more likely to get incentives from New Jersey, whose governor, Chris Christie chairs the association. Lockheed Martin reportedly donated $50,000 to the association and then applied for $100 million in tax credits over 10 years in return for expanding in Camden. Why is Christie holding 80% of the Sandy recovery money?

Is this a good time to invest?
I get this question all the time. Who knows? NO ONE. If you listen to media commentators who are paid to tell your fortune, you might get greedy or scared. Fear of stock market activity keeps many from investing for retirement. Don’t listen to them. They are paid to talk but no one can foretell the future. If we can’t know the future, consider your wealth-building alternatives—bank CD? If you need $40,000 a year in retirement, how can you get it? Advisors can take up to 63% of your long-term accumulation so don’t bother them. Your low-cost plan at work may provide an easy way to invest automatically. Fidelity found that their 401k accounts reached $1 million (provides $40K a year for life) by investing for 30 years in low-cost mutual funds. Same with low-cost target date funds. We can’t control the market but we can control costs.
There is no “best” time to invest. Making equal contributions to low-cost funds is the only way to be successful, according to Unbiased (already) millionaires: http://www.amazon.com/The-Best-Predictor-Investment-Success/dp/1502524082

Do you really need an advisor/broker?
A recent survey found that 36 percent of investors with under $1 million don’t believe an advisor would represent their best interests, and 31 percent said they don’t have enough assets to interest an advisor. Also, 28 percent said they could do a better job than a paid advisor, 27 percent said they could not afford an advisor, 15 percent said they didn’t know who to turn to for an advisor, and 9 percent said they get help from friends and family.
Advisors/brokers are not necessary anymore. Trading is gambling, not investing. Buy 10 low-cost mutual funds for the rest of your life and earn over 10% a year: http://www.amazon.com/Vanguards-Top-Ten-mutual-funds/dp/150073909X

Employers sued for charging high fees
It’s getting easier for retirement plan participants to win fee suits, says a senior advisor for the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries. They are having more success because their lawyers are arguing more effectively in court by making a point of showing what fiduciaries should have done but didn’t do, said Ilene Ferenczy, ASPPA.
Participants are also faring better because their attorneys more often are demonstrating how trustees are costing them money by allowing excessive fees, Ferenczy added.
"In every single time period and data point tested, low-cost funds beat high-cost funds."

GOP crazies
Joni Ernst is running in IA and says she will make Congress squeal when she gets there. She also said she will shoot anyone with her 9mm (including the government) who tries to take away her rights. She might be inciting armed rebellion against the US or warning police that she will shoot if they come to arrest her for a crime. Is she against rule of law?
Her advert says she likes to kill pigs.
Will she cut pork (subsidies) from IA farmers as well as their health care?
KOCH Bros have spend $290 million to buy midterms for GOP so far.

GOP crazies
Turns out that most GOP do believe in climate change by man. They just can’t say it in public because they fear the TEAs. In fact, House Republicans passed an amendment to the annual National Defense Authorization Act forbidding the Defense Department from spending money on any climate-related initiatives, including planning programs. However, quietly, GOP-led Pentagon has been training for climate change since 2010 because they NEED to be ready. A new report should be read by every GOP voter just so they know the facts, not the TEA’s version.

Lexus most reliable vehicle, again
Consumer Reports has just released this year's ratings of the most and least reliable new cars and carmakers. Mazda, Honda and Subaru joined Toyota in the top ten. Audi was the highest scoring non-Japanese brand, while Buick was the only domestic brand in the top ten. The recently merged Fiat Chrysler fared worst in the rankings, with its Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Fiat brands in the bottom four spots. The new nine-speed transmission in the Jeep Cherokee was among the company's headaches.

ObamaCare after 1 year—more Americans have health care—Kentucky example
Americans who never had health care now do have health care. They no longer have to go bankrupt if they seek help. Why are GOP against a healthier America?

Are you supporting your adult child?
“Research shows that Millennials have weathered the most significant repercussions from the recent economic downturn. While Millennials are the most educated generation in history, nearly 4 in 10 are unemployed and many more are underemployed,” said Deb Dupont, associate managing director, LIMRA Secure Retirement Institute. “Parents of Millennials, even those over the age of 22, are providing considerable support to their children at a time in their lives when saving from retirement should be a priority.”
The study also found that 57 percent of U.S. households with adult children have at least one adult child living at home. Nearly three quarters of households with adult children ages 18-22 have at least one adult child residing in their home.

Small Business Health Options Program launched in five states.
The business health exchanges will open in Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio and Missouri in late October. Small employers will be able to use Healthcare.gov to do such things as establish a profile, assign an agent or broker to their account, complete an employer eligibility application, and browse plans and pricing when they become available. The states that will not offer employee choice in 2015 are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia.

AZ school system bans contraception info because 1 parent objected
Gilbert Public Schools board, which covers at least 38 schools and 39,000 students mostly in Chandler and Mesa, voted 3-2 on Tuesday night to excise two pages about contraception from "Campbell Biology: Concepts and Connections." The text now says that abstinence is the only fail-safe birth control method.

SCAMS           Why are we still paying $700 Billion a year for WWII deployments?
We are paying for 164,253 of our active-duty armed personnel to be in 150 countries around the world. We have about 50,000 in Japan and 50,000 in Germany.
Are we preparing for WWII again? There are 1,208,083[1] armed personnel in the United States. Our taxes pay for about HALF of the WORLD’s military expenditures every year. We have wasted $398.6 billion so far on the F-35 program—they can’t fly safely.
We just can’t afford to pay for everyone else’s defenses anymore.
Japan, Germany and S. Korea can pay for their own defenses.

Fed tells banks to change bonus behavior
Bankers are given a big check when they make deals that are bad—even those that could destroy our way of life. (Bankers can afford to move offshore.) Regulators want banks to paying fat checks over time. Banks need to have the bankers themselves pay for the damage—losses and fines. GREAT IDEA! Gee, I wish I had thought of that!?
In fact, every broker/advisor/agent should follow same regs.

Court makes suing corps for bad behavior even more difficult
Shareholders used to have the ultimate control over their corp behavior. Violations could be redressed by suing officers. But now the corp home court has quashed that “checks and balances” strategy. Hoping to achieve greater accountability wronged investors have filed many cases against top corporate officials, accusing them of breaching fiduciary duties and of other misdeeds. But even this enforcement mechanism is under attack, thanks to a recent decision by the Delaware Supreme Court.

Noah L. Myers, 43, an investment advisor from Lyme, Conn., pleaded guilty in federal district court to securities fraud for operating a cherry-picking scheme that benefited him and hurt his clients. He credited the most advantageous client trades to his own account.

Merrill Lynch was fined for allowing short-sellers to dump stocks without making sure they had first arranged to borrow the shares.

Congress allows corporations to evade taxes--we pay

Congress allows corporations to evade taxes--we pay for them
More tax dollars are leaving the country as more US firms demand tax breaks to stay. Walgreen got $millions in tax breaks from IL and then decides to leave. We are being blackmailed and Congress does nothing. Even Fortune magazine sees the collapse in tax fairness coming. Coast Guard rescues Miami-based Carnival distressed Triumph and avoids taxes to pay its fair share. These corporations use our ports, roads, courts, communities, military hegemony, banking and capital markets but don’t pay for them. Forbes blames our tax rate not being as low as 5%. The 1%ers already got their tax cut.
Don’t get stuck with their tax bill. Start paying your fair share:

More drug firms escape taxes
AbbVie plans to buy Shire and base the new company in the U.K. to benefit from its lower corporate tax rate. The move is part of a wave of U.S. health-care companies looking to take advantage of European deals to lower their taxes. Also Mylan of CanonsburgPa.agreed to buy pharmaceutical assets from AbbVie's former parent, Abbott Laboratories that will create a new entity organized in the Netherlands. Tax considerations appear to be the primary driver in AbbVie's courtship of Shire. Shire's tax rate was 17% and AbbVie's was 22.3% a difference of only 5%.

Young women turn away from advisors—using internet tools and save
About 45 percent of baby boomers use a financial professional compared with 31 percent of Gen Xers and 15 percent of millennials. “The declining use of financial professionals may be due in part to the vast amount of investment research and tools available on the Internet, which millennials and Gen Xers are often more likely to use than baby boomers,” said Lori Fouché, CEO with Prudential Group Insurance. Nationally, only 31 percent of women use a financial professional, down from 48 percent in 2008, according to the Prudential study. With one in five women saying financial professionals don’t understand their needs, using jargon and a hardcore product sell is part of the problem. Women make better decisions when they find their own solutions. Cut out the middle person and Save: http://www.amazon.com/Personal-Finance-Online-middle-person/dp/1500522120/

Best mutual funds from last year fail for this year
For funds in the top quartile in March 2012, only 3.78% maintained that position in March 2014, a new study said. “Very few funds can consistently stay at the top,” according to the report, authored by the index provider's director of global research and design, Aye M. Soe. “The figures paint a poor picture of the lack of long-term persistence in mutual fund returns.”
This study confirms that there will always be a top performer for the year but you can’t use past performance to pick it. With 9,000 funds, one will always top next year’s list—just not predictable.
An unbiased Morningstar study of all funds showed that In every single time period and data point tested, low-cost funds beat high-cost funds.” Cost is the best predictor.

Why your health insurance costs so much
Some health insurers pay their CEOs so much they make the top 10 on pay day. Aetna paid CEO over $36 million  so a good part of your premium goes to one man. Does he really help your health or even Aetna stockholder’s health? Could the company follow the rules just as easily without each patient having to pay $50 to $100 a year for this guy?

Obama cut deficit in HALF
The government's budget deficit will drop to $583 billion this year, the lowest level of President Barack Obama's tenure. Obama presided over trillion-dollar-plus deficits during his first term as the economy struggled to recover from a deep recession and financial crisis. GOP Reagan, Bush I & II ran the deficit from 30% of GDP to 90% of GDP, as in WWII, at $17 Trillion! Two tax cuts for the rich and two undeclared wars.

GOP Crazies
FL GOP caught changing voting map to suit GOP. Districts redrawn illegally according to judge’s findings. Even though there are more registered Democrats in the state, Republicans currently hold a 17-to-10 majority in Florida’s congressional delegation. Did Bush II “win” 2000 election illegally?

Obama impeachment?
Sarah Palin declared last week that Obama should be impeached over the immigration crisis and other issues, a call that even Congressional Republicans have dismissed. “She wasn't a particularly good vice presidential candidate,” Holder said on ABC’s ‘This Week. “She’s an even worse judge of who ought to be impeached and why.”
“There’s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that’s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Mr. Holder told ABC News. “You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There’s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some, there’s a racial animus.”
The KKK uses bags of candy to recruit in SC
The imperial klaliff (political leader of the Muslim world) of the Loyal White Knights and said the effort was part of a recruiting event they hold three times a year. Kids found candy at door on Sunday morning with note "Save Our Land, Join the Klan." It had a phone number that led to an automated message discussing KKK efforts against illegal immigration.

GOP cuts IRS enforcement by 25%--we will have to make up for the tax cheats
The GOP-controlled House has voted to slash the budget for the Internal Revenue Service's tax enforcement division by $1.2 billion; a 25 percent cut that would mean fewer audits of taxpayers and make it more likely that people who cheat on their taxes will get away with it, especially if they have a lawyer/accountant.

GOP cuts securities regulator to halt advisor enforcement of fiduciary rule
House killed budget request for imposing the fiduciary rule (salesman must give best solution regardless of fees). SEC will not uphold ‘best for customer’ rule.

State Farm cancels 30-year homeowner because bad weather
State Farm, which has insured Metzler's property for 30 years, was declining to issue her a new policy. Too many claims, her agent said. Metzler, 74, was ticked off. Her neighborhood had been hit hard by extreme weather several times in recent years.
"It was ridiculous," Metzler said. "What do I do? Put a faucet on Mother Nature? Gee whiz." Homeowners met with Montana’s Commissioner to discuss claims disputes. Some had assumed a policy couldn't be canceled because of an act of God. Not true.
Non-renewal presents real problems for homeowners because once a customer had been turned away after multiple claims, it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to be picked up by another claim-weary company.
Brad Hilliard, a State Farm spokesman, said it “has to look at what it can reasonably cover.” Doesn’t matter how long a customer has been with the company or what kind of insurance they have. It is how many claims a customer has filed. Claims cost money. Senate supports Supremes: our employer now decides which religious law we live by
The U.S. Senate turned back a Democratic proposal requiring for-profit companies to provide workers with insurance coverage for birth control even if the employer has religious objections. Five white guys’ religious views upheld.

Social Security office still verifies income
Social Security said its offices will continue issuing statements that recipients can use to verify their benefits. People sometimes need the information quickly to verify their income when applying for a loan or other government benefits, such as housing assistance. GOP cutbacks had scheduled to close offices in October but that plan was put on hold.

AIG, the prime suspect in the 2007 financial crisis, is paid $650,000,000 by Bank America
American International Group will get at least $650 million in a settlement with Bank of America Corp. as the second-biggest U.S. bank seeks to end liability for faulty mortgages. AIG sold insurance to global institutions that bet on risky mortgages that went bad. AIG was bailed out by taxpayers and now reaped more profit from its bad bets.
