Women are more vulnerable to a retirement income shortfall

Women are more vulnerable to a retirement income shortfall

When Social Security benefits are cut sometime after 2034, women will be hurt. Women live longer and have greater health expenses than men. Women rely on SS benefits more than men yet because of lower income, receive fewer SS benefits. Fewer women have their own well-funded IRA to supplement their incomes later. Fewer women have employer paid pensions. Women have lost seniority due to child rearing. Finally, women have lost wages over years of suffering the unequal pay gap. Thus, cutting benefits by 25% or so as planned by the current Trust forecast will bring women near poverty straits. Will the male-dominated GOP respond to fix this emergency with new taxes soon so that the Trust has time to accumulate a useful balance? Maybe not. This leaves women workers with the options of working longer, staying married (or with other family), finding more affordable housing/living situation or creating a new income source.

Is Social Security in your future?

In order to receive our full benefits in the future (2034 and beyond) we need to have more people who pay the FICA tax working. Since fewer children are being raised in the US and fewer immigrants are being allowed in by the GOP, there will be a shortage of workers to pay for future Social Security benefits. In addition, wealthy folks with income over $147,000 are exempt by GOP from paying FICA. So we need to make a change in one of these determinants. Workers and employers already pay their fair share—7.65% each. Congress could save Social Security for us by lifting the exemption. We are at risk to the politics of wealthy Americans maintaining their privilege. Our future may be more like the economies of poor countries—very wealthy owners and very poor workers. Some working people can afford to wait to claim higher benefits. Most working people can’t afford a lump-sum payment for an annuity to replace SS benefits. Most workers (80% by a recent survey) feel they aren’t saving enough (or simply don’t know how to save) for retirement. This leaves workers with the options of working longer, staying married (or with other family), finding more affordable housing/living situation or creating a new income source.

Retirement planning—the good, the bad, the ugly

If you have started to think about or talk to your advisor your retirement, that’s good. If your advisor has begun to pitch an annuity, that’s bad. When you have estimated how much income you will have compared to your expenses, that’s when it gets ugly. Most retirees wish they had started saving/investing earlier. Well, that can’t be helped now. You started when you started. What can you do now? Why do advisors push annuities? If you have a large lump sum, annuities can provide a guaranteed income to you (and your advisor). However, many insurers are cautious about guarantees. They have been burned by low interest rates and so limit ‘guaranteed living benefits’. People are living longer so the benefit, that ‘lasts a lifetime,’ may lose HALF its purchasing power in 20 years. If you have kept your money working in equities, you can sustain your current income level for longer than an annuity can. Plus if you or your family has an emergency, you can use your portfolio. Usually you cannot cancel an annuity without a large charge.

Buffett recommendations for investments in retirement

What is one of the world's greatest investor's retirement advice? Use 2 Vanguard funds for your retirement income. You avoid “high-fee managers” and the high cost of trading.  Warren Buffett's legal will provides for his family by directing that his cash assets be invested in just two Vanguard funds: One will provide cash for the coming year and the other will provide for a sound future. The best way to protect your family's future is to be invested in the stock market: Pure and simple. When you have stock assets, your money compounds at higher rates when your account fees are 0.01-0.05%, not the retail rates of 1.5-3%. You don't have to settle for retail products that are structured to provide a Wall Street firm with higher revenues. The average investor earns just 3.79%, not the 10-12% market rates according to the DALBAR record keeper. A simple plan can save you the pain of retirement income blues. Retirees regret a little saving and planning workout.

Light is both a particle and a wave depending on how we look at the light.

I don’t think that there is any such thing as a position or a velocity of a particle.

Everything in universe: galaxies to stones made of subatomic energy ‘vibrations’

A subatomic ‘particle’ is the smallest possible vibration (quantum) of a quantum field.

Mass–energy equivalence: E=mc^2.  At the smallest level; Everything is moving!

There is no TIME at this level because of force fields come and go in all directions.

Inside protons, neutrons, it is the fields of the virtual particles that creates its mass.

“Empty space is a boiling, bubbling brew of virtual particles that pop in and out of existence in a time scale so short that you can’t even measure them.” Space expanding.

The electricity we use comes from the field around the wire not from election itself.

Don's new tariffs cost us $6,000

Don’s new tariffs could cost each of us $6,000 a year
An independent analysis of Trump’s tariff proposal finds that it could cost the average U.S. household more than $6,000 per year, with much of the burden falling on households with the lowest incomes. “We find that a Trump tariff proposal against all countries would cost U.S. consumers $459 billion annually and $2.29 trillion over five years,” David Tuerck and Paul Bachman, a pair of economists at Suffolk University in Boston, write for the nonpartisan National Foundation for American Policy.
There are many ways for Trump to ‘tax’ the middle class. Tariff’s increase the price of everything working people (not wealthy) buy.

Which investment strategy provides the best retirement outcome?
“The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.” Warren Buffett Mr Buffett's strategy of patience has proven to be the most astounding in history. He has earned 20.8% a year compounded over 50 years including recessions and wars. He does NOT trade or speculate. He holds companies for a long time. Buffett has proved the market is NOT efficient and stock-picking can work for a few.
Buffett is the genius who found a way to beat the market. The average investor earned just 3.79% while the stock market earned 11.06% over the last 30 years. DALBAR QAIB. You can become wealthy by choosing the best investment strategy in the 21st century: The Hub and Spoke Strategy. Use the best of both worlds: market index and Buffett's stock. There are almost as many “investing” strategies as people who work on Wall Street. There are institutional and retail investors who put up the money and take all the risks. And there are salespeople who take profits unfairly from the investors.
You have your choice but there are three considerations first: trust yourself or others, your futures will change, wealth-building takes time.

No retirement fund? $9 is all it takes
Almost 20% of Americans 65 and older are now working, according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s the most older people with a job since the early 1960s, before the U.S. enacted Medicare. This may explain why younger people have trouble finding work and why wages remain flat despite productivity increases. More employers are offering tax-FREE Roth 401ks yet only 10% participate in these retirement funds. As the overall economy improves, the growth of productivity is going to existing asset holders, not to those producing it. Since 1995, the average year-over-year inflation rate for energy has been 3.9%, for food, 2.6%; for shelter, 2.7%; and for medical care, 3.6%. Middle class expense increases leave no room for building assets.

GOP budget-cutters go after the poor again—GOP ‘heroes’ target defenseless
It is an easy group to target with no lobby and no defenders. GOP will cut food stamps again instead of supporting a wage hike that might reduce the need for this subsidy. GOP did not go after oil and gas socialists on subsidies, not the socialist supports that guarantee income to corporate farmers, not the socialist price guarantees to sugar and cotton and peanuts and soy and corn and etc. They did not cut the defense programs the pentagon says they don’t want or need. No, they cut food stamps. No wage offset, no retraining. Former manufacturing workers now on food stamps. Part time hiring up.
Always hit the people who don’t have lobbyists or big election gifts.

Making the world safe from BANKING
Congress and Obama have stopped fighting Wall Street during this contribution period called the 2016 elections. However, the problem of leveraged gambling without consequences still hangs over this planet. Closer than global warming as a threat, leaders of the world’s financial system have not taken the necessary steps to keep the world safe from BANKING, according to Mervyn King, former head of the Bank of England. “The financial system, King reveals, is still wired so that a handful of well-connected people capture the benefits from risk-taking while the entire society bears the cost.” Bankers and regulators use ‘complexity’ to defeat serious change. King’s solution: let investors who give the banks money to gamble take the hit when they lose. Keep deposits separate!

What does the NEW Republican Party stand for as of May 2016?
Limit rights of immigrants, non-Christians, Muslims, gays, Asians, protesters, press
House GOP votes to let contractors discriminate against certain people GOP dislikes
Tax breaks for wealthy; cut funding for un-wealthy, poor, seniors, underemployed, etc.
One-time 14% tax on wealthy to pay down national debt.
“I would build consensus, not use Executive Orders.”
“I'm not accepting any money from anybody, not beholden.” until now--Trump Fund
Increase debt and devalue debt and limit defense spending.
Cut regulation of all business activity except when GOP controls women clinics
Regulate all District Columbia activity/spending—end local control of DC budget
AL GOP reversed local control of Birmingham city paychecks
MI GOP reversed local control of Flint water against local experts
LA GOP reversed local control: wants strippers to be over 21 but under 28 and 160 lb.
Climate change is a hoax.
Trade pacts are no good for us and no good for our workers.
Abolish IRS, EPA, Education, Dodd-Frank financial protections
National right to buy and carry any firearms anywhere anytime by anyone age 2 and up.
Reinstate Christmas and Christian observance in schools, home, court, etc
Reinstate Christianity as the state religionbar all others from public office
Replace Obamacare with Health Savings Accounts (tax deduction not coverage).
Resist approving judges for courts (fewest in 50 years) so Dems not make policy
Install state Gov that cuts Medicaid, education, federal support payments, infrastructure.
Trump policy now and then: Unintended consequences is real threat!

Is an immediate annuity right for you?
When your advisor proposes buying an annuity to guarantee income for you in retirement, they may not mention certain facts that you should know. First, an annuity purchase is final – few can be reversed. Second, you will be receiving regular income from your IRA, pension, etc at age 70.5 due to the IRS mandate. Third, many annuities have higher fees and charges than similar income producing alternatives. Fourth, an immediate annuity starts paying you monthly income in return for your cash but is based on current low interest rates. When they go up, you are stuck with lower income.

Do you need a will like Prince forgot?
He did not leave one in plain sight so his “relatives” will spend $ millions for lawyers and courts to get some cash or what they “deserve.” Well if you have that problem, get thee to a lawyery. Or make your own for $55 at Nolo or as little as $35. If you only have a house, car, bank accounts etc in joint name you may not need one. Your IRAs and pensions have bene clauses so they don’t go to probate. Simple asset estates don’t need lawyers—you may pay your state tax yourself. Fed death tax begins at $5.45 million. I read library books to do mine. Avoiding probate doesn’t help with some states: everything is taxed—even retirement funds—unless it all goes to spouse.

Regulators are the only protection we have since we can’t sue anymore
“It is nearly impossible for one individual to take on a corporation with vast resources.” (GOP bill requires impossible: every person in class action suffer “same type and scope of injury”)

New rule lets business expense any item up to $2,500 – cuts taxes
Effective for 2016 and later, IRS upped the $500 de minimus threshold to $2,500. For small business, writing everything off which costs less than $2,500 is now great way to reduce profits. That’s right, $2,500 a pop. For example, for a food vendor, almost everything they buy, except the truck they use, will cost less than $2,500 so they write them off and pay less tax.

Corporations use our taxes, laws, courts, police, but refuse to pay for them: Congress OKs

Corporations that use our money, laws, courts, police, army, etc owe US $695B
Our corporations are hiding cash so they can avoid paying their fair share. Profits reported by American corporations to the IRS as earned in tax havens were actually earned in the United States. But large corporations use accounting gimmicks (most of which are allowed under current law) to make profits appear to be earned in tax haven countries. In fact, a 2014 CTJ examination of corporate financial filings found U.S. corporations collectively report earning profits in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands that are 16 times the gross domestic products of each of those countries, which is clearly impossible. $695Billion is the cost of our Defense Department for one year.
Why do our “Reps” let these gimmicks continue to be used? Could it be election money?

Mutual fund fees are frying our retirement nest eggs
Blackstone CEO Schwarzman took home $810.6 million in 2015. What did he do for that? My mid cap growth mutual fund at Blackstone lost 5.79% in 1 year as of Jan 2016. It had the lowest 3-, 5- and 10-year return of its class. It costs 1.39% a year to own and the broker took 5.25% right off the top. My ETFs did not do as well. If I had gone with Vanguard’s index version with 0.09% fees and no broker, I would have lost less and averaged 11.97% since 2011. The broker said Blackstone was the best--“Best at frying!”

Our mistakes can be corrected, but first we must admit them, like Buffett does
Believe it or not, Warren Buffett, one of the greatest investors of our time, makes mistakes. Contrary to what Wall Street does, he admits them and changes his behavior. In his letter to his owners (http://berkshirehathaway.com/letters/2015ltr.pdf, p 16, he tells how he messed up. Our brokers/advisors never do that. He explains that he misjudged a company’s and or market’s potential. Yet he is able to recover and has other businesses that have returns of over 20% per year. Great investors admit mistakes. He tells us to buy assets with a margin of safety so when things don’t go well we haven’t lost all our money. His advice is to pay less so we earn more. Simple investing works best.

GOP’s Koch is right—our system is stacked against working people
New report shows that college grad from poor family earns less than college grad from rich family. Working hard does NOT get us the American dream—only a downsized version. The notion that education by itself can break the poverty cycle is flawed, just as is the related idea that school reforms can be successful by ignoring the conditions in which kids live and attend school. Rich college kids earn 162% more than HS grads compared to 91% more for poor college kids. Koch recently said Sanders was correct about a rigged system. College is now minimum education since HS classes fail to prepare us for middle-income jobs. Get a boost from Tax-FREE earnings like the rich.

GOP ends our pay raises in AL, IN, MI MZ
Last Tuesday, Birmingham, AL, raised the wages to $10.10 and the state GOP lowered it back to $7.25 on Thursday. GOP made it law—bars cities and counties from raising wages. Dem Senator said, “bills like this keep people poor." Michigan, Missouri, and Indiana have already banned local minimum wage increases. Yet we give our taxes as subsidies to our employers who pay only $7.25. Can you live on $200 a week after taxes? Why do the poor re-elect GOP to cut their wages? The median retirement savings of 55- to 64-year-old Americans was just $14,500 in 2013. Social security benefit averages $1,341. Can you live on that?
Start a tax-FREE account with your refund!

GOP cannot deport 11 million immigrants—their taxes pay for state/local gov
Recent study:  "the data show undocumented immigrants greatly contribute to our nation's economy, not just in labor but also with tax dollars." States such as Idaho and New Mexico report undocumented ownership rates as high as 46 percent. "The undocumented are actually paying a higher percentage of their income toward local and state taxes than the people in the top 1 percent," said analyst Erika Nava. From 1996 to 2003, undocumented workers paid a combined $90 billion into both Social Security and Medicare.

Do you have the Woman’s Retirement Account?
Women have a substantially lower income in retirement than men and the older they are the worse the situation, says the National Institute on Retirement Security (NIRS) in a report released Tuesday. Women age 65 and older have 25 percent lower income than men and by the time they reach 80 the gap widens to 44 percent, according to the report. Women between the ages of 75 and 79 are three times more likely than men to live in poverty, the study said. The IRS has a special account that allows tax-FREE gains and tax-FREE income so that you can make up for your reduced income by avoiding income tax. Instead of paying 15-25% in income tax, you can spend ALL your nest egg.
Use the woman’s tax-FREE retirement account: http://www.amazon.com/Ensure-Your-Financial-Health-Wealth/dp/1466388293

GOP Religion uses ploy to end safe abortions
TX is closing women’s health clinics whether they do abortions or not. Clinics that provide most of the health services (exams, screenings, and ambulatory care) are being shut by GOP Religionists using the hospital surgery standards mechanism. It is like closing CVS flu shot pharmacies because they are not equipped to do open heart surgery. The new Supremes are going to decide if this is fair to TX women. Most clinics do tiny number of non-surgical abortions after extensive counseling required by TX already. Is this different from the government deciding about our health care when the GOP decides to end ObamaCare?
GOP Religion could return American women’s health delivery back to 1940s.
It is clear from the hearing that the GOP is making up a problem as an excuse for closing women’s health clinics just as they do about voter ID laws to solve problem of voter impersonation which does not exist anywhere. People just don’t bother to stuff ballot box.

How to avoid your income taxes by using a PO Box in Ireland

Can you Pay Less Tax by buying a post office box in Ireland?
Like many American corporations, which the Supremes have decided are “people,” I want to “move” just my legal address to a country with lower tax rates so I can pay less. Recently, Johnson Controls, WI and Pfizer, NY, said they had “moved” to Ireland (not really). Recently, the NYTimes asked an expert how we real human beings can do the same to save taxes. We can’t do it, according to the expert. Corporations can give unlimited amounts to buy our elections and they can lie about their home and pay less tax. Apparently, corporations have more rights than ordinary Americans do. No surprise there—they can buy more politicians. We are billed for Pfizer’s $35 billion taxes! And Pfizer still gets to enjoy our courts, police, army, lifestyle benefits for FREE.
The Times forgot one way to avoid Pfizer’s taxes: http://www.amazon.com/The-Tax-Shelter-Young-Americans/dp/1500426520

Wealthy are seeding their next bumper crop of ... not tobacco but … marijuana
The next big thing for the 1% ers is outlawed in most states but has a growth potential bigger than alcohol. Your rich friends are looking for something new and exciting. “I was drawn to the newness and growth of the cannabis industry,” one said. Banks won’t touch the stuff but people with money to burn can’t resist “stirring the pot.” They just don’t tell their well-heeled friends. They call it an “agriculture play.” They look at the “12% return and 60 percent loan to value.” Most risk only 5% assets because “it can go up in smoke.”

This is why you don’t give money to hedge funds
Aequitas Capital Management appears to be unraveling before investor’s eyes. Everything looked good in 2015. Aequitas appeared to be a healthy, growing firm, opening a new division to serve investment advisors. At its peak, it reported some $1.7 billion in managed assets. It offered short-term notes through advisors paying 8-12% interest and a more than 2 percent commission to advisors. Then in late 2015, it told investors that it was unable to refund the notes when they became due. Now it is allegedly under investigation by the regulators.

Vanguard attacked because the fees are TOO low?
Disgruntled employee is after a government reward for telling the IRS that Vanguard owes it more money because Vanguard charges less for its services than all other mutual fund companies. Claim: Vanguard’s average expense ratio is 0.14 percent, compared with an industry average of 0.64 percent. That means Vanguard’s fees bring in about $4.5 billion a year, and if the fees were raised to the industry average they would bring in about $20.5 billion. Since Vanguard is run at break-even now, that difference would presumably be profit, and thus subject to corporate income taxes. This means more tax for IRS. This is like asking your food co op to pay tax on the profits it does NOT make because it could be like a Kroger store. Some people have too much time on their hands!

What happens after ObamaCare?
Despite GOP talk, the government did NOT determine my ObamaCare coverage—an insurance clerk determined what care I can receive. When going for an operation (my hip replacement), I called Horizon’s clerk and she read the manual for my ObamaCare contract. My daughter’s employer actually determines what their coverage is and how much she must pay herself. All GOP candidates wish to eradicate ObamaCare on Jan 21 2017. When that happens, how will we obtain care? Most insurance contracts run for a year so nothing will happen. The enrollment for 2018 is in Oct, so Congress has to pass a bill to make a new system. Insurance firms and hospitals and most providers will need another year to design and sell new GOPCare health contracts. So maybe 2020!
Since NO plan has been offered by the GOP (ObamaCare was GOP idea in 1993), we can only assume that Trump’s plan will be used. He promised "We'll work something out," when asked by ABCTV. He says he will have private plans; “great plans and health savings plans.” He “won’t let people die in the streets.” This sounds like what we had before so insurance clerks will continue to decide what treatments and surgery we will receive—IF we can afford coverage. The poor will go back to hospital ERs for primary and preventive care and we will still have the most expensive system in the world that only treats those with money. Hospitals are required to treat thanks to Reagan in 1986.

Defense contractors pay GOP to increase deficit another $18 BILLION
House GOP urging a steep increase in the Pentagon's budget have already received $10 million in campaign contributions. The 34 GOP lawmakers, all members of the House Armed Services Committee, are pressing for an $18 billion increase in the 2017 budget year. The Government Accountability Office has identified several areas of the department as "high risk" when it comes to waste and fraud, including weapons purchases and financial management. The committee's chairman, Mac Thornberry of Texas, topped the list of recipients with $941,700 in contributions made by employees of and political action committees sponsored by companies that do business with the Defense Department. (AP) We can’t stop contractors from buying our Reps but …

GOP Religion law allows discrimination in the name of Freedom
America had the rule of law so that every citizen is governed by the same laws, applied through a fair and equal judicial process to resolve disputes peacefully. But states like WV just passed a law that only protects those citizens who have a “sincerely held belief.” Part of the test for this belief is the practice of religion that does not seem to follow the rule of law. So apparently, if you are not a practicing member of a GOP religion, you have no standing with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This law creates a special class of American, and in the case of HB 4012, a special class of West Virginian. This special class may practice freedom of religion, but those who wish to have freedom from GOP religion have no special protections. 20 states have this law even though Supremes said “unconstitutional.”
The law protects GOP religionists so if they don’t want to serve a person they don’t like, they can refuse without legal liability. Discrimination is legalized. Religion justifies racism, sexism, intolerance. Jefferson called for a “Wall separating church and state” but now you must have a “GOP religion” to have the law on your side. This law makes GOP religion superior to civil law. It allows a business to tell employees what birth control they must use because the owner holds “sincerely held beliefs.” And the owners have the money to get an order from the Supreme court. We don’t.

Is this the American Future with the GOP?
Latin American women plead with westerners to send abortion pills. The overwhelmingly Catholic countries have criminalized access to contraception. Women are scared of giving birth to children with microcephaly, the mysterious condition marked by an undersized head and brain damage that doctors have linked to the mosquito-born Zika virus. Pope OKs contraception but silent on already pregnant. The Pope first answered by calling abortion an "absolute evil" and a "crime." “That is what the Mafia does.” Some priests still insist on no contraception to prevent pregnancy: “just wait for a year or two.” Cruz, Rubio, Bush say their religious beliefs will guide Presidency: Abortion illegal?
Will this become the US policy under GOP Religion in 2017?

Is it worth asking for a price check BEFORE seeing doctor?
Can you pay less yourself even when you have insurance to cover that MRI or exam? Some are finding the new world of health upside down. Some providers are cutting out the middleman (insurers) and saving you and themselves time and money. Before you have it done, take a price check at http://clearhealthcosts.com/. This site takes real prices paid from patients: Mammogram really costs $50 or $607?

Buy your “no repair” car with care
Lexus, Porsche, Buick and Toyota captured the top four spots in the annual vehicle dependability study which measures owners' complaints per hundred vehicles and was released one day after a similar survey by Consumer Reports magazine. These vehicles all had fewer than 114 problems per hundred, with Lexus (95) and Porsche (97) setting the pace.

How to file your taxes for FREE
Despite IRS advice to file early, Congress gave many financial firms until Feb 15th plus a 30-day extension for some tax reporting forms. So you must wait or end up having to file an amended return. One firm, FOLIOfn, told me they don’t send forms anymore. I must find them and download. You don’t need to send in the forms with FREE efile, but the Payor’s number and amounts are important. EG: FOLIOfn’s EIN is NOT for 1099s.
Once you have all your forms, pick a FREE efile site at https://www.irs.gov/uac/Free-File:-Do-Your-Federal-Taxes-for-Free. Most charge for state filing and will work for any income. When you are done, most let you carry data and credits to next year so you will have less to do. I had to amend 2013 and FreeTaxUSA let me input and print it for FREE. Most sites ask you questions you can answer (some with email help) so filing is easy unless you are hiding money overseas (Romney) or have multiple real estate (Trump) holdings. My refunds are maximized and I get my money in my account in 2-3 weeks.
